"With its three-part harmonies and prominent keyboards, 10 Day Notice isn’t exactly GG Allin or the Dayglo Abortions. What we have, however, is a pleasing slice of pop-punk goodness that still packs a punch. Especially notable are the male and female vocals, with one taking the lead and the other providing backups until the next song, when they switch it up again. Transcendent and almost otherworldly at times, the vocals provide a solid bedrock on which the instruments swirl, moving smoothly from one dimension to the next. “Albert”, about an aspiring rock star, has a Liz Phair sort feel to it, the vocals soaring but never screechy. “He’ll make it even if he has to kill,” sings Leah Martin, admiring Albert’s determination to succeed at a very difficult game. Vocalist/guitarist Matt Granlund brings his adroit guitar playing and Aussie accent to the table, pairing with Leah like John Doe to Exene Cervenka of X. Backed by the solid percussion and backup vocals of Evan Thomas, they make a great duo. In these trying times, Rent provides a much-needed musical oasis." - Author, Chris Walter (Vancouver, BC)
